Masham and the surroundings

The nearest local centre is the historic market town of Masham, 6 miles away, which is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale, alongside the River Ure. Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, The Black Sheep and Theakstons breweries (both operate tours), numerous pubs and restaurants, craft /art shops, galleries and a thriving community spirit: the Sheep Fair, Traction Engine Rally, Arts Festival and Victorian Christmas Fair, to name but a few regular events. For a luxurious day out, you could also try Swinton Park’s country spa or their Birds of Prey experience, see www.swintonpark.com. Further information on Masham can be found on www.visitmasham.com.
